More development into downtown

I hate the downtown SA is viewed as a tourist destination by most natives. We have seen incredible growth in the last 5 years and I want to see more.

The city should be investing as much as they can to build downtown. A great downtown will put San Antonio on the map and make the entire SA community better.

Improve public online COSA meetings and events calendar(s)

There are lots of opportunities to be involved in COSA planning and decision-making meetings as well as COSA sponsored or held social events, although it is currently difficult to know when and where these public meetings and events are held or to plan for involvement - leading to missed opportunities for participation, competing meetings and events, etc. COSA's current online comprehensive calendar of different public... more »

Install public toilets at Travis Park

Travis Park is a major transfer point for VIA and now site of lunchtime City food truck vending and numerous (hundreds?) of public events each year. Many of the events require the hiring and transport of port-a-potties to the park. Permanent toilets at Travis Park would reduce the cost of events as well as support public transport riders and day-to-day users of the park. Main Plaza provides one example of the type of... more »

Downtown Bus Stops

Downtown Bus Stops are used as a Hangout for Homeless and transient People. Terrible presence and Scary to walk by. Harassed by beggars every blocks. Not good for Locals and Tourists.

Move Bus stops, especially Big transfer points to outside downtown ASAP.

City Walk SA

Has anyone kept up with City Walk? Any ideas of a trial neighborhood for SA/anyone willing to go in on trying it out here? I think southtown would probably be the most popular option but I'm thinking near east side/dignowity hill to highlight recent developments there.

safe for seniors

As a pre-fire former resident of the Wedgwood highrise apartment building there are some city policy/ordinances I would like to see. First, no future approval of apartment residences over 4 stories. Second, all senior residences must have an emergency evacuation PLAN and not just evacuation routes posted at elevators. Third, no more "grandfather" exceptions. Fourth, all senior apartment complexes must have sprinkler systems.... more »

Fast way to report traffic fixes

I wish there were some technologically fast way--e-mail, tweet, FB post--to report a fix for traffic screw-ups _that has recourse_--that is, returned correspondence acknowledging receipt with a personalized result about the response ("We investigated your claim, and have decided . . ." or "The person you need to contact about that is . . .") I care about good traffic flow and don't want accidents, but the many people... more »

Probate court

1 out of 5 San Antonio citizens are 60 and over. I would like to see more public meetings on protecting elders and their families from unneeded guardianships. There are new laws passed by the state last session. Many times hospitals, nursing homes and retirement community‚Äôs directors are by passing family and referring people to court most often to cover their legal behinds. They should not be allowed to that. How... more »

Mayoral Campaign

Any thoughts on the race? Adkisson seems like a long shot. Taylor, Van De Putte, and Villarreal - in my opinion - are the candidates with a best shot. I'm voting Villarreal. Haven't really seen anything form Taylor as interim-mayor to make me believe in her. She was pretty ineffective as a council member and hasn't actually done much as interim-mayor. I don't like Van De Putte deciding to jump into the campaign after... more »

Keep B-Cycle in San Antonio

The City should step up and see if we can find some public funds to keep B-Cycle in San Antoni. Like Uber and Lyft, I think B-Cycle is an important service in the city that tourists and locals both enjoy.

I don't think the City should fully fund them, but some support is warranted.

Interested to hear everyone's thoughts on this, too!

PROBATE PIRATES

Why, in a city the size of San Antonio, do we only have 2 official Probate Courts? Accidents happen. Everyone gets old. Everyone dies. Probate court is the court that most of use will have to deal with at some point in our lives. Currently we have 3 "visiting judges" taking up the slack. 3 judges that were not elected by the public yet hold awesome power over the lives of your elderly, incapacitated and estates. There... more »

Install real-time electronic bus signs at Travis Park, etc.

Travis Park serves as a major transfer point for VIA and people standing scanning the streets for arriving buses (as the park behind them is mainly empty) is a fairly common sight here. The costs of 'real-time' bus tracking and reporting has dropped significantly ($50 smart phones can do it). The City should work with VIA (and sponsors?) to install real-time electronic bus arrival signs at stops at Travis Park (PRIMO... more »
